King Size Beds

A UK king is 5ft × 6ft 6 (150 × 200cm): a foot wider than a small double and a little longer than a standard double. It is the size that makes sense in a proper master bedroom without committing to the full width of a 6ft super king.

The extra length matters as much as the width
UK doubles are 6ft 3 long. King and super king are 6ft 6. Anyone over about 6ft tall usually feels that difference before they notice the extra 15cm of width over a double. If you are replacing a double because feet hang off the end, king is the direct answer.
This grid includes adult upholstered frames and the TV beds. Children’s models stop at double, so they will not appear here.
Will a king overpower the room?
In a room that already takes a double with space to walk both sides, a king usually fits. You lose a little bedside depth. Super king (6ft) is the jump that starts to demand a wide room and larger bedding. If the only spare centimetres are at the foot of the bed, measure the ottoman lid swing as well as the mattress plan.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a king bed in the UK?
5ft wide and 6ft 6 long (150cm × 200cm). That is wider and longer than a UK double (4ft 6 × 6ft 3).
King or super king?
Choose king if the bedroom already works with a double and you want more sleep space. Choose super king (6ft) only if the room is wide enough for a 180cm mattress plus bedside tables.
Are TV beds available in king?
Yes. All seven TV bed models list king size.
Do I need new bedding?
Yes, if you are coming from a double. King duvets, sheets and mattresses are a different size; a double mattress will not sit correctly on a 5ft frame.
What are king size mattress dimensions in the UK?
A UK king mattress is 5ft × 6ft 6, or 150 × 200cm. The upholstered frame around it is larger — check the product page before you tape the outline on the floor.
